Can't access my Config Editor

Hi All, hope you can help.

I am running build 3036.

In the "Configuration Editor" under "Booting Options" I ticked the following "Flags":
1) Start VM automatically when it is opened
2) Exit application on VM shut down

I am wanting to access the "Configuration Editor" but can't figure out how to.

When the VM is running and I try to open the "Configuration Editor" I receive the following message:
"Virtual machine configuration cannot be changed while virtual machine is running."
"You should stop the virtual machine first in order to change its configuration."

I can't get to it when I stop the VM because it closes Parallels.

I can't get to it when I launch Parallels because it automatically starts the VM.

Note that using the configuration editor when a VM is suspended will usually delete the sav file and on the next restart, the VM will behave as if its plug had been pulled.

I think the auto shutdown (and auto VM start) should come with a warning like "This may not be a good idea. Are you sure you want to do this?" I would advise against enabling either of these unless you have a REALLY good reason to so so. Convenience is not a really good reason.

In light of what joem says, it may be best to run parallels-config again.

On the security side, these two options, plus switch to fullscreen, and in preferences, select power off, as well as take away hot keys for switching out of fullscreen and release input. All those plus take the parallels-config file away to a safe place and that VM configuration would be impenetrable.

Ummm... If I have physical access, and the entire disk isn't encrypted, disabling those auto functions is a couple of minutes work, if that. It isn't secure and anyone who relies on it to be secure from, say, a class of teenagers, is going to buy a few hours at best, I suspect.

That sort of "security" will keep some people out, but those are people who would stay out if you posted a yellow sticky asking them to.

If you mean access to the .pvs file to edit, then I didn't think of that.

So, ron, that would be your answer then. Just edit the .pvs file and change those settings to 0.
