Can't change Virtual Machine screen resolution

I have a iMac 27 with Parallels 7 for Mac installed. I installed Xp as a virtual maching and the screen resolution is too high, 2560x1440, which makes everything, icons, systray, too small.

I have tried changing the resolution many times and when I reboot Windows or the iMac the setting goes back to 2560x1440.

Any suggestions?

FOUND partial solution. Had too lower the screen settings for the iMAC HOST computer, which was needed anyway, then the same resolution carried over to the XP VM. I can live with this but seems like you should be able to set each to the resolution you want. So my original question has not really been answered.
