Can't drag and drop files...

Okay, I'm a little stumped. I have always used Parallels with XP. And suddenly I ended up with a corrupt XP folder. It wouldn't recognize in Parallels, only my Boot Camp Partition would show up. Oh well. I only used that for certain things.
So I decided since I could get Vista really cheap from my school, I'd give it a try, the install went okay, it is running fine, but I can't drag and drop files to the desktop like I can with XP. It tells me that the folder 'desktop' is set to read only. So I go into my folder, go to properties on the Desktop folder, it is checked to read only, I un check it, hit apply, then hit okay, when I go back to the properties of that folder, it is checked again.

I really need to get files back and forth but I am stuck. Anyone able to help me?

Thanks.

Please lower screen resolution in mac, increase video memory for VM,and disable DirectX Shaders

Is that the solution?
