Can't remove OptiZero0.dat file

Hi all,

The Parallels Compressor-tool seems to have left behind a OptiZero0.dat file in the windows user folder (documents and settings\username). I'm unable to delete it, since Windows thinks it's in use and denies access.

Parallels tools shutdown doesn't help, deleting under DOS doesn't work either. It's a really big file of about 2GB, and I've read elsewhere that it can be safely deleted.

But how?

For the rest: love the product. No problems whatsoever!

No, sorry. I tried that right away the first time. Also rebooted OSX to be sure...

Something is locking this file, but can't figure out what!

It gets even funnier: I've tried rebooting the VM again, but the file couldn't be deleted ("in use" etc.).

Then I've completely shut down the VM, and started it again. Then I was able to remove the file (complained that it was to large for the recycle bin, you know the drill...) using the file explorer. Jippee!

But here it comes: it was gone for about three seconds and then it REAPPEARED again out of nothing in file explorer!! I touched nothing!! Same file, same size...

Don't know if this will help in your situation, but to delete a file bypassing the recycle bin, right click the file, and hold down shift while clicking delete in the context menu.
 
Thanks for your suggestion, but it doesn't work either. The file disappears, but comes back instantly. After that, the file can't be deleted since XP reports it's in use.

I can't stand it.... :confused:

Open the task manager (right click the task bar and select task manager from the context menu) and have a look at what applications are running (task manager and what else that you don't need) and if that isn't productive, look at the process list and see what's running that shouldn't be.

Something that shouldn't be running is creating that file.
