Carrier Command - Gaea Mission

Has anyone had any success running Carrier Command - Gaea Mission, I get an error saying No DirectX9. I've tried various VM configurations and switching to discrete GPU with no success. I am currently only trying to run the demo as I don't want to buy the game until I know it works. Has anyone else downloaded the demo and successfully run it.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
MacBook Pro 15" Retina 16GB 512GB solid state HD Dual Core i7
