Hi. Trying to install CentOS 4.4 or 4.5. They both install. However, neither gets beyond the unpacking stage when booting up the kernel. The system appears to freeze. Anyone know a reason for this? I'm using i686 ISOs I got of a BitRocket/BitTorrent site. In fact the 4.4 and 4.5 came from different sites. Do I have bad ISOs or is there a trick? If so, what? Thank you.
I had this problem too this week with CentOS 4.5, it turned out that there was two grub options, one which started up with a SMB setup, the other regular. By default it was trying to start up the SMB setup and it would get to the booting kernel prompt and hang. I later on chose the other option and it works like a charm, so I just edited my grub config to point to the non-SMB bootup and everything is good Hope this helps! Cheers, L
