Change file icons

I have Parallels 8 running Windows 7. I have my Microsoft Excel files set to open with Excel for Windows by default. Unfortunately all .xlsx files when viewed in Finder now have a grey "exec" icon (which is the default icon for a Unix executable in MacOS).

Do you know how I can change the default icon for these files so it is the normal Excel icon?

do you have default app specified in Get Info? Do you have application sharing enabled? Do you have shared profile enabled? Please check in VM Configure -- > Options --> Sharing
