Cisco VPN in host, w/ W2k3

Hi all

There are a few posts floating around about this, but it's not too clear what the current situation is.

In the latest beta (3106), and in the latest released version of Parallels, I'm not having any luck in getting the guest OS (Win2k3 server) to connect to my VPN. I'm using Cisco VPN 4.9.00 (0050). My VPN connection works fine from OSX, but I don't get any connectivity from within Windows with the VPN established.

I've tried with both WLAN and wired connections from my MacBook to the VPN, as well as various permutations of start VPN/start Host OS.

Has anyone got this combination working?

Also, in the latest beta, the only networking option that isn't greyed out is bridged ethernet. Is this a known issue, or is it caused by something else?

I'm using the Cisco VPN product in OS X. My XP, Solaris, and Fedora vm's use shared networking, so they can also use the Cisco VPN - in fact they're not even aware of it - they just use it.

One thing you might need to do is edit host tables or change your DNS configuration so that the VM's can find hosts by hostname. OS X does not act as a DNS proxy or forwarder for the guest OS's. I haven't looked to see if it even can because I have onle one host they really need to see via the VPN and that is for corporate webmail.

Thanks for the pointer to this article. I uninstalled/rebooted/reinstalled and got the network options back.

Shared networking allows me to use the host VPN client from the guest OS, which is exactly what I was after.

Thanks for the heads up on this. With shared networking, the TCP/IP connection works, but as you say, there's no DNS resolution. That can be easily fixed.
