ClamXav found virus on .hdd file

So I have Parallels installed with Windows XP. Just for kicks I did a virus scan of my MacBook using ClamXav and to my surprise it found a virus on the winxp.hdd file. It says Linux.Lion worm FOUND.

ClamXav only identifies and doesn't remove viruses. But since the .hdd file is pretty much the Windows XP install on my Mac, if I delete it, it'll probably kill off my entire Windows instance. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

It means nothing. Your .hdd file is just random bytes to the Mac and a false positive is not impossible. Install ClamWin in Windows, or Kaspersky, and run it again.
 
Thanks. I do have McAfee on WinXP and it found nothing. I'll try the 30-day trial of Kaspersky to see what it finds. My only concern was that this was on the "Mac side". ClamXAV otherwise didn't find anything else.

On the Mac side, I think you would be far better off with Intego Virus Barrier X4.

Better install the one which is bundled with Parallels Desktop itself. It will last 6 months for free instead of 30 day. When your Windows VM is started and logged on, visit Parallels menu Action - Install Kaspersky Internet Security...
