Coherence mode "for dummies"

Hi all guys,

I need to run Windows 8.1 on my new MacBook pro and so I need to choose among Paralles and VMWare.
I use VMWare at work (win to win virtual machines...) and I know it but I heard about this COHERENCE mode that seems quite good for me but I'm not sure to have clearly understood how it works.

Does it runs a normal virtual machine and opens the specific .exe application hiding the windows bar?

I'm asking this because the only reason I need Windows on my Mac is that my girlfriend needs to run an application I developed for her using Visual Studio based on SQLServer. This means that my virtual machine must first start SQLServer (usually it runs as a windows service) and then my application; furthermore my application takes backups of the database and put them on Google Drive disk, so I need also this service working.
Is COHERENCE suitable for me?

This video should help to understand the concept of Coherence. Video is designed for Parallels Desktop 8, but the concept of Coherence is the same in Parallels Desktop 9 and 10.

Now it's more clear.

Just another question, I read that I can start the virtual machine directly in coherence mode, this means that I can configure which application must be run at startup (in my case my application obviously...)?

Forget my previous post...

I downloaded the test version of Parallels 10.

So now I can say "it's clear"!!! From the video I did't understand the management of window applications.
