Coherence

pulmon

Bit poster
Every time I try to use Coherence, the Guest OS crashes. This started with Parallels 2 shortly after Coherence was introduced (it worked for a while) and continues with Parallels 3.0.

I run Parallels on a first generation MBP (core duo, 2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM,100 GB HD with 20 GB free). My Guest OS is XP Home edition, and I use MS Office, MS Project, and Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro. I use Zone Alarm for antivirus, and that is all the software in my system.

I have sent 3 emails to Parallels without any response (except the automated one).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Coherence crash with Zone Alarm

Mike,

I used ZA with coherence when coherence was first available and had no problems.

Can I simply turn ZA off, or must I uninstall? I just renewed for 1 year and hate to waste the investment. I rarely use the internet with Windows, but feel a need for safety. If I MUST ditch ZA, can you recommend an alternative that is known to be compatible? I am not a fan of McAfee or Norton.

Thanks!

Yes, you can turn it off.
Also you can install Kaspersky Internet Security (6 month free as i know). Just go to Actions menu - Install Kaspersky Internet Security

Thanks! It was Zone Alarm!

Mike,

I took your advice, deleted ZA and added Kasperwhatever. Coherence now works! Wish I had not just re-upped my ZA. Oh, well, live and learn.

I've used Kasperksy (after dumping McAfee) for several weeks now - works well.

But I didn't know it was time-limited. Don't recall any note to that effect during installation. Will I eventually get some expiration-warning notice?
