Connect an RDP session to workstation, instead of server

    Dear all,

Based on several search terms I haven't found a solution to my problem on this forum (nor Google, for that matter), so sorry if an answer has been posted using different terms.

I've installed the latest iPad Client on an iPad2 and created an RDP connection. As at first I had some problems connecting, I've started out using a domain adminstrator account to log on to a SBS 2008 server. This was only succesful when connected through a VPN connection to the remote domain (I was at home at the time).

After making some changes on my domain user account and through Group Policies on the SBS server in the Remote Desktop Users group I was able to use my personal account to connect. With my <user>@domain settings I always land, however, on the desktop of the SBS server, logged on as <user>.

I want to be able to connect to my workstation, which is part of the domain, and not to the server. I normally use a Windows machine at home to connect to my workstation and use the SBS Remote Web Workplace for that (also port 3389). I assumed 2X would also, as it uses the same port, connect to my SBS server and would automatically, based on my username, be connected to my workstation. My personal username can only connect to my personal workstation (settings checked).

As everything seems to work fine, all ports accept connections, and using an administrator account I get to the desktop, can someone shed some light on what I'm missing to get past the server and land on my workstation's desktop? I've tried various settings (log on to console on/off, DOMAIN\User vs. user@domain).

Am I too much confusing Windows Remote Web Workplace with 2X? Do I need to check/alter anything on our server?

    Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
    Gerard

From what I could understand ,the Remote Web Workplace is just a webapp that requires an ActiveX control to use RDP-related features. In this sense RWW is just another RDP client and I don't think that there is any way to get RWW and 2X RDP Client to talk with each other.

My suggestion would be to check if you can connect directly to the workstation when using the iPad. If not, you may need to install the 2X Gateway on the server that you usually use to access your workstation. With the Gateway, you can then redirect your connection from the server (gateway) to your workstation if the two machines can connect to each other.
