Context menu/right click freezes VM

I very often encounter the problem that invoking the context menu by right-clicking the mouse freezes the whole VM.

The freeze then stays for about 60 seconds, I can switch to any app within Mac OS and it is fine, then the VM starts working again, and after this has occurred once, right-clicking is no problem for some time.

But if I do no right-click for a certain time period (maybe an hour or so), the same problem occurrs all over again.

Any suggestion on how to trouble-shoot that?

VM is Windows XP on PD 5584
 
The problem no longer occurs after I made a completely fresh XP installation.

It seems that the original XP installation, which I had transfered into VM and where the problem occurred, was simply too old/too instable.
