Converting from fixed to expanding disk

I used transporter to create a Windows-XP virtual machine on my MacBook. The size of the fixed drive that was created is approximately 80GB. For best performance I opted for a fixed disk rather than an expanding disk.

I've been progressively reducing dependence on XP-based applications and I've significantly reduced the size of my XP installation to under 30GB. I'd like to reclaim some of that space for my main volume under OSX.

I am not sure about the steps involved to reduce the size of the fixed virtual disk without destroying my XP installation. The Parallels Compressor product unfortunately does not work with fixed virtual disks.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I've now been able to reduce the size of my windows disk from 80GB to around 10GB. That's freed up a great deal of space on my macbook!

That also makes it somewhat more feasible for me to include the parallels virtual disk for XP in my time machine backup.
