Creating a VM from a pulled HD?

I can't seem to find this answer, though it probably exists in the forums somewhere -

I have the HD from a dead PC that I would like to turn into a Parallels VM. I can plug it into my mac via USB or firewire, but I no longer have a working PC that will boot with this HD, so I can't use transporter.

what is my best solution?

Boot Camp greyed out

Hi,

I also have a hard drive I pulled out of a pc. I've connected it via usb through a docking station so I can now see it.

I'd like to create an image from this drive but don't understand how to do so with Transporter.

I also saw the response above to create a new vm and then to choose boot camp, but it is greyed out. I don't have boot camp on my mac and don't want to use that. Do I need to have it installed to do so?

If not, then exactly which options do I choose when creating the new vm? I've tried all the different os's and cannot get the boot camp option to appear!
 
Try to restart Mac OS, and hold Option key, if it will provide choise to boot from USB drive, as Windows, you can use that drive,a VM with Boot Camp. otherwise not
