Difference Disk, like VPC's

We use this at work all the time. I'm sure some are familiar with it, but basically you have a base disk image, and a difference disk image. Any changes made to the OS after you create the difference disk are made to that difference disk. If you mess up your machine, go ahead and throw the difference disk away and you've still got your base install.

Great for testing software!

Thanks for your help Xenos.

Why don't you use Snapshots?
Because we didn't know about them. That's why we asked.

Shame dcsmrgun had to wait one and a half years for a reply though. Why so little traffic here?
There seem to be two forums:
community.parallels.com/forum/ and forums.parallels.com but I don't quite understand the relation. The first one (the one you get from the home page) looks very quiet and could put people off.

I'm currently evaluating Parallels and community support is a big deal to me.

Pogle, we are sorry we miss some posts sometimes as they are much more numerous than the Parallels moderators. And a year ago there were even less forum moderators. However we are working to improve the forum support.

The forums are separated as they are aimed for quite different purposes:

forum.parallels.com - is mainly a tech. support forum. You get a link to this forum when you purchase Parallels products along with links to support webpage and Knowledge Base. Here you can discuss various technical issues with Parallels support staff, developers and other customers.

community.parallels.com/forum - is dedicated to discussing PVA (Parallels Virtual Appliances) usage and features and also for answering some general questions from the visitors who are interested in Parallels software. Consider it a PVA enthusiasts community, thats where forum's name come from.

Best regards,
Xenos

OK, thanks for the clarification Xenos. Now I look more closely I can see that, however I wonder whether most first-time visitors, or people evaluating the trial, would notice.
Personally, I'd open it up to everyone so outsiders can see there's some momentum behind the product.

Just my 2 cent's worth (as they say).

Regards

Pogle, thank you for the advise. We will try to follow it to avoid future misunderstandings. Outside point of view is very important for us. We appreciate your feedback that's helping us to improve.

Best regards,
Xenos

Hello Pogle,

You are right. Parallels developers are working hard to improve Workstation functionality. Thank you for your report.

Best regards,
