We are working with a large church, and they need the option to not be able to save the password at all (greyed out). Is this something we can do or something in the works? Its a deal breaker. Thanks.
I too would like to know how to do this For users on our LAN we don't mind if they save their passwords but it's not cool on their home computers. Is there anything that can be done about this, preferably by IP or app?
save password disable doesn't work for admins I know this behavior is by design but it doesn't help us. We've been waiting for 4.3 to come out to launch this service for home users since we don't want domain passwords stored on shared home machines. The problem is that home users are local admins of their computers Is there any way to disable the saving of passwords for all users? How does this disabling work now? Is there a registry key or file I could deny access to that would trick the AppServerClient into thinking an admin was a user?
Hi there, Under the local machine registry settings you can find a settings to disable the save password. If this option is on then users will not be able to save their password. This setting is overridden if the user is an Administrator. Administrators have access to everything on their system so in this case this option does not apply. If administrators had to abide by this option too, they could easily set "Disable save password" in the registry off and this option will be ignored. Nixu.
I agree that admins could turn this setting off if they looked in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\2X\AppServerClient but most people aren't going to do that. If there's no GUI method inside 2x to enable password saving you'd take care of 99% of users. Half the reason we got this software is so users could work from home. If we hadn't known that password save disabling was going to be in 4.3 we might not have spent the money. We can't allow domain passwords to be saved at home. The apps that we're sharing access sensitive data and somebody's 12 year old could do some serious damage. Is there any way we can disable password saving for all users?
FYI, product support told me that disabling of saved passwords for admins would be available in version 5 which is due out in early May 07.
