Hi there,

I am stuck in this infinite loop that many have referred to. I am trying to change the settings in an image, but can't get in to the VM Settings window. Some while back I must have set the auto start option "on", but now I can't stop the thing from auto starting and auto-stopping. I have tried the fix mentioned in other threads, but the two options are already set in my PVS file:

Start auto = 0
AutoShutdown = 0

However, the image still starts running automatically as soon as I start it, and Parallels automatically quits as soon as I stop the OS. I'm going grey trying to fix this.

Can anyone help?

Hey Simon,
I've worked through a couple different scenarios to fix this. Try launching Parallels from the Application folder instead of from the icon on your desktop or application dock. If this works, trash the existing Parallels icon and replace with the one in the applications>Parallels folder. If the VM still auto launches, try suspending the VM, then clicking on "configuration" from the Parallels console window. Confirm the next message about any unsaved data being lost. The VM should now be STOPPED and you can change the booting flags. DS
 
Yep, I am double clicking on the same PVS file that I am editing to open up this machine. Other machines seem to be working correctly with the auto start option off.
 
I´ve had exactly the same problem earlier(Editing the pvs didn´t help). Then the only solution was to delete the .pvs file and configure a new VM from scratch. It´s not difficult. Just use the existing harddrive image file.

It would be great if you could do us all a favour, by keeping a copy of the old pvs file if you follow the White fox suggestion.

Then you could compare the two files, and let us know what the differences are.
