Does Parallels Disk Image Tool destroy old data?

Hi,

I am running Desktop 3.0 for Mac Build 4560.

I initially created a disk image using the default 8000MB and now I want to
expand it to 24000MB. I read the instructions in the Disk Image Tool documentation.

1. If I follow these instructions, will my current data remain intact?
2. My current image is NTFS. Will the new one also be NTFS?
3. I am frightened because the instructions say to back up your data,
but I don't know how to do this.....especially for my installed programs.
Is the tool safe and reliable so that there is little risk of losing my current data?

Please help me out.

OK.....

I was able to make a clone of the VM.
The link you gave me with instructions to increase the disk size are
similar to the instructions given in the documentation for the disk image tool.
In both cases, you end up with a new partition, and a new drive letter, e.g. D:

I would prefer if all of the new space was part of the original partition C:
rather than have my original partition of 8GB and the new one of say 16GB.

Is there some way to fold all of the new space into the original partition?
Or do I have to make a new partition as described?
