I think you need to provide a more detailed description of what is happening and also such info as which version of Parallels, which OS X, which version of Windows and what your hardware is.

    which desktop?

    windows or Mac OS?

    I never had the problem
    I would reinstall parallels tools

then drag a jpg from Mac OS desk top to Windows desktop
this used to call a dialog box saying "do you want drag and drop switched on"

also check the file sharing menu

    P DT >> devices >> Shared Folders >> Add
I just select all drives and the whole mac os desk top for sharing

that selection error suggest you might need to reboot

thank you. reinstalled parallel tools and it is fixed. does parallels tools take up a lot of disk space?

    it does not matter

an essential part of the instalation
    with the customised drivers

if windows ever thows a "found new hardware" before tools have been installed
    always cancel

get an external la Cie firewire disk for all back ups
and clone your VM once a week there

try and keep your macintosh HD always with 20% free space
and all apps will run better

    just now running in Windows
    http://onecare.live.com/
    the gratis check by MS
which always finds and fixes windows registry errors
13% fragmented so on a defrag too

just good house keeping for an MS system
