Empty CD drive results in error message

If I start a Windows XP Pro virtual machine with a correctly mapped CD drive but no CD in the drive then I get an error from Parallels Workstation (beta2) saying "Unable to open device/file Default CD/DVD-ROM"

The icon in the bottom of the Parallels window then shows a red x in it.

This is in my opinion a bug.

I think it has more to do with how unix treats drives than anything.
