Enable 32-bit apps on Mohave VM equivalent access to files on host

I am running a number of Parallels VMs on Catalina, including on Mohave. I run the Mohave VM to run 32-bit apps which do not run on Catalina. Unfortunately, 32-bit Microsoft Office apps on the Mohave VM will only open files that are on the VM itself and not on the Host (Catalina) file system. It would be very helpful if Microsoft Office were able to open files that are on Catalina file system as well as the Mohave one.
