Error Installing Visual Studio

I'm trying to install Visual Studio on an XP Guest OS on a MacBook Pro and it's failing on the .NET installation. The error in the error log is:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5: [2] Error code 1603 for this component means "Fatal error during installation."

Any ideas?
