When attempting to 'attach' a Firewire 800 drive to a Windows 10 VM, transfer speeds are extremely slow. When operated in its native environment (e.g., Boot Camp) the drive can deliver approximately 80MB/s throughput. When attached to a Parallels VM, throughput tops out at 20MB/s. When the same disk is attached via USB 2.0 however, throughput is around 28MB/s. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense, because Firewire 800 is approximately twice as fast as USB 2.0. Why is Firewire 800 so much slower than USB 2.0 in Parallels?
