On my fairly stock Fedora Core 4 system, I followed the instructions in the installation guide PDF, and there were no errors, but now attempting to run "parallels" as a regular user does nothing.

    % parallels
    [blinking cursor]

The process is running, along with two children:

    23007 pts/23 Ss 0:00 \_ zsh
    22057 pts/23 S+ 0:00 | \_ /bin/sh /usr/bin/parallels
    22058 pts/23 D+ 0:00 | . \_ /usr/lib/parallels/parallels-linux
    22059 pts/23 S+ 0:00 | . . \_ /usr/lib/parallels/parallels-linux

And dhcpd is running as root:

    21821 ? Ss 0:00 /usr/lib/parallels/autostart/prl_dhcpd -d vnic0

And I have another zombie process from my first attempt at running parallels:

    21998 pts/23 D 0:00 /usr/lib/parallels/parallels-linux
    21999 pts/23 Z 0:00 \_ [parallels-linux] <defunct>

There's no CPU, disk, or network activity, but the load average is pegged at 3. I waited at least five minutes for the first instance to do something, and fifteen minutes for the second attempt.
