Fedora Core 7 in Vista

I'm trying to get a guest OS Fedora Core 7 to work on Vista, however I cannot get the networking to connect to anything. DHCP isn't giving the network adapter (eth0) within FC7 a n IP, and even when I allocate a static IP I still can't connect to anything.

Anyone else having the same issues on Vista and if so any solution/workarounds?

Vista as a primary OS is supported right?

I had a similar problem after I installed Parallels 2.2 on Vista Ultimate. I already VMWare Player 6.x installed.

However, Parallels worked fine, but it seemed to disable the VMWare bridge driver for the virtual network connections. I had to go in (to Network Connections) and re-enable the VMWare bridge driver. Perhaps you have a similar issue?

I can now run VMWare and Parallels simultaneously (each with a Fedora 7 guest)!

For the record, Parallels has great potential once they get tools for linux. It feels much faster than VMWare, although I have not done any objective testing yet.
 
Still not working

My Fedora Core 7 (FC7) guest OS still isn't working on my Windows vista business edition... anyone else have some ideas?

Anyone know how the VM network exactly talks to the host OS network? Does it use the paralells virtual host nic? I'm trying to figure out where the error might be... anyone have an idea of tests I can run to see where things are breaking down?
 
Parallels use VirtualNIC if it is configured in HostOnly mode. In bridged mode it connects directly to your network card. Check that you are connected to the right card in configuration editor.
