    Parallels: Build 5584
    Mac: OS X Version 10.5.2
    VM: Windows XP

    Problem:
When opening files from Mac OSX, they will try to open in parallels Windows XP, so the file associations have been hijacked.

Ideally I'd like the files I open in mac to open with Mac Applications not the Paralles virtual machine.

How can I restore all my mac file associations to their respective mac applications and remove all and any file from opening in windows.

Shared application settings for my VM are all unchecked. I've tried other suggestions in the knowledge base and forums posts with no luck and it's driving me batty.

All help appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Same problem...

    Hi,

I've been having the same problem, but even right clicking open with and x always, it doesn't fix the problem: it always comes back...

    Driving me loco :(

Delete Windows Applications folder in Virtual Machine folder it is from Mac Side, disable Shared Applications from Configuration Editor

    other permanent solution

1 select a file in your finder (e.g. .doc)
    2 press <cmd> <i>
3 go to 'open with' area
4 select the correct application (e.g. Microsoft Word)
    5 and click 'change all'

when Microsoft Word is already selected change it to another appl. and click 'change all'
and then set it back to Microsoft Word again and click 'change all'

Hope this works for you as it did for me
    cheers

Is there any comprehensive fix for this problem with an expired 'trial' version of Parallels? Configuration menus are inaccessible.
