If I create a zip or .doc file (does not seem to matter what file type) on Linux and then copy it to the shared folder when I open it under windows it is all garbage. If I do the same thing under windows the Linux side can open the files. The guest OS is Fedora 14 and the Host OS is Windows 7 64 bit.

I'm having the same issue. Host: Windows 7 64-bit Guest: Backtrack 5 R1 32-bit(2.6.39.4). If I copy from terminal, the files will not be corrupted but if I do a drag and drop, they will be corrupted.

    clarification

I assume you mean that if you use the "cp" or something similar from the command line that the files are OK? if so that is something I had not tried.

Sorry, yes. Opening up a terminal and performing something like this:

    # cp <directory/filename> <user/Desktop/Parallels\ /Shared\ /Folders/<shared directory/>

The files will show up on my network/local/usb drive. Then I can open them and they will display properly.

Before I updated to the latest parallels/parallels tools, I didn't have this problem... since then my VM experience has sucked (it corrupted another BT5 vm after I installed new wireless drivers - snapshot back, update again, get corrupted again - I just deleted that vm as its no good to me if I can't update it).

Thanks .. I will do that way of copying until they fix this. I imported mine from VMWare player ad then updated the tools. I was using Win 7 Pro 32 bit as a host OS before that. I tried turning compression on an off since even looking at the raw data from a text file did not show me much that I could use for diagnosis. Thanks again for thinking of this.
