If I run FreeNAS in a Parallels VM using the FreeBSD 5 profile, after loading the ISO, the system maintains a constant 20% CPU load on both cores using a Macbook Pro Core2 Duo with 2G of RAM and 10.4.8 and Parallels build 1970.
By contrast, WinXP uses only 2-5% at idle.
You should be able to replicate this by downloading the FreeNAS ISO from their website, creating a similar profile, and then leaving the build alone.
