We're on RAS Version 17.1.2 (build 21874) and have deployed a template which provisions full clone VDI's. Per documentation, full clones operate separately from the template and changes to the template will not interrupt the full clones, but this is not the case. Once template maintenance is complete and we bring the template back to 'Ready' state all VDI's are recreated. Has anyone else experienced this?
Dear JayS8, You provide a proper reference to a note: Note: Please note that any updates applied to a full clone template in the maintenance mode will only affect future clones. Existing guest VMs that were created from this template as full clones will not be affected, so if you want these VMs to include these updates, you will have to recreate them on https://download.parallels.com/ras/v17/docs/en_US/Parallels-RAS-v17-Administrators-Guide/40806.htm that is correct. However, on exiting Maintenance prompt you should select No - look at attachment
If you select 'Yes' then the full clones are recreated. That is contradictory to the note within the document. "Please note that any updates applied to a full clone template in the maintenance mode will only affect future clones. Existing guest VMs that were created from this template as full clones will not be affected,"
RAS Console provides a prompt with appropriate message to make a choice (the goal is to help admin by automation): * If you deliberately choose Yes to recreate NOW then guest recreated immediately (though the process takes time) * If No - then existing guest VMs are untouched and updates not applied. We will improve the prompt message and update documentation accordingly. Thank you you for your feedback.
