GA - no sound recording?

Despite this mention in the user guide:

* AC'97-compatible sound card. Sound recording is supported;

I can not get sound input to work or show up. I have a MacBook Pro with the internal mike set as the default input device, and nothing I do in Windows XP sees any audio. I have installed the updated Parallels Tools and have done several reboots, no change in behavior.

Sound playback works great, just no input.
 
I also can not get sound input working in the GA.

I have tried both using my USB mic connected as a USB device (an Andrea AK5370, which gives me "device can not start" still...) and also through the mac sound system.

I tried both Sound recorder and the non-beta audacity to make sure it is not a sound recorder bug.

If sound input does not work, please remove it from the list of features. If it is supposed to work, please let me know what I need to do to get it working.
 
Okay:

Sound input from the mac sound system into parallels is still not working....

I did a little more work into my USB problem , and it seems that the problem with my USB audio device is not the Mac's kernel using the device.

I ran the following with my USB device unplugged:

sudo kextstat
sudo kextremove AppleUSBAudo.kext
cd /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo mv AppleUSBAudio.kext /System/

This essentially hides the usb audio driver from MacOS so that it can not load it. When I plugged in the device again, MacOS did not see it.

It *still* did not work under Windows. (I still get the "device can not start" error)
 
Its WORKING!!

All I had to do was reboot my Mac... I read another totally unrealted post in which one of the Parallels people suggested to reboot to fix something after an upgrade. Funny I never thought of that. Maybe the installer for Parallels should force a reboot after install?

I am using the Apple Sound System input from a USB mic. (If I try to use it as a USB device under windows then it still borks, but I don't really care how it connects as long as it works)
