Is there any place where I can download older versions of Parallels? 3 just doesn't work for me, and I want a downgrade. c.
Lordy - this should probably be put in the FAQ: http://download.parallels.com/GA/Parallels Desktop 3188 Mac en.dmg If you did not save your pre 3.0 virtual machines they are useless to you for retrograding. You will have to re-install them.
Can a forum moderator PLEASE sticky a thread with links to the 2.5 download versions? Until then, try these threads as they have the links http://forums.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=12811 http://forum.parallels.com/thread12706.html http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=12777 http://forums.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=13076 Edit: Sorry, dkp managed to post while I was searching for the locations. You will find links to both 3188 and 3212 in the threads. Not really sure which is better.
They do. And the number of places grows daily as people come in and ask for them. But surely you're suggesting an "official" place and I agree. This request has reached contagion levels.
Yes, I do mean on the site. Links on forums don't count IMO, they are very hard to find. Speaking of links and finding, is there an uninstallation thread for 3 anywhere? I tried using the uninstaller, and then I tried installing 3188. The installer told me that I had a newer version of the software, and that it would overwrite the previous version. But then... the installer told me "There is nothing to install" wha?? I went through /Library/Parallels /Library/startupitems and deleted: /System/Library/Extensions/ConnectUSB.kext These were already gone: /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsnet.kext /System/Library/Extensions/vmmain.kext /System/Library/Extensions/hypervisor.kext /System/Library/Extensions/helper.kext but somehow the installer thinks that Parallels is still installed. And what is with the whole "nothing to install" nonsense? Any thoughts of how I can fully get rid of 3?
Reboot after running the uninstall tool. After the reboot you may still have to go into system directories and remove all files that Parallels has installed but abandoned, including your virtual machines as 3.0 virtual machines have no value to 2.5 hypervisors.
HAHA ..... Wow, 212 results at the moment. I usually start with a forum search prior to google, simply because I know there are dozens of threads on this question. It really is a shame the links aren't in either a sticky or in the KB. If you want a good laugh, go to the KB, click on Parallels Desktop for Mac -> 2.x version. Go to the upgrade / installation page, notice that the link in the 2.x installation page actually takes you to the 3.x download.
Alternate Download Locations You can download previous versions of Parallels from Version Tracker. You then need to select the version you want from the version combo box. After the page reloads, there will be a download links section after the screenshots section. Just note that the VMs you created/used with version 3.x won't be compatible with older versions.
