Graphic troubles Win 7 in ll8: "milky look" ...

hello everybody

win XP and win 7 are running in ll8 on my mac.

I am running a data base programm on both windows versions.

On XP the graphic of this db-programm is very sharp and clear. On 7 it's not clear at all but "milky".

I was trying to give more memory to the graphic but I'm not able to. I cannot change the 256mb in the ll8 settings.

What reason could that be?

No idea what you mean by "milky". A picture would be worth a thousand words here.
Blind guess: your db-app doesn't support DPI scaling. Try changing VM configuration > Hardware > Video > Resolution to Scaled and see if it makes a difference.

well, it's just not sharp. I'll try to send you some printscreens.

but in the same ll8 in XP it's absolutely sharp ... strange.
 
Oh, Video settings are called Grafik in Deutsch, of course. So, Scaled must be Maßstabgetreu. Try changing this and reboot your VM.

"scaled" makes the symbols and everything huge but problem is still there: no sharp image in this programm.

under XP in the video settings there is no "scaled" etc. but just "activate Retina resolution" ...

so again, under XP it's absolutely sharp, but not under Win 7.

could it be the amount of attributed RAM or similar *no idea* :/

You need to restart your VM after changing resolution setting to let DPI scaling apply in Windows.
 
I ment: I did that and it didn't help :)

can anyone tell me, why there is such a graphic difference between XP and Win 7? or any other suggestions which could resolve the problem?

The difference is that retina support is enabled by default for Windows 7 VM and is disabled for XP. When retina support is enabled Parallels Tools set Windows DPI scaling to 199%. Your application doesn't support DPI scaling and Windows have to upscale it causing blurriness, this blog entry explains that.

You need no other suggestions. What you do need to do is to make sure you've actually set VM Config > Hardware > Grafik > Auflosung to Massstabgetreu (note where the blue border is) and restarted Windows. Then verify that DPI scaling is back to 100%, see this page for instructions.
