Half Life 2 and Portal run slowly

Hey,
I'm running Vista home basic with Parallels 4.0, and i got half life 2 and portal recently. My MacBook has 4GB RAM and a intel x3100 graphics card, so according to this video they should run fine. But, in half life two some things become invisible in some lighting and portal laggs whenever two portals are close, and both games run generally slowly. Are there any solutions to this problem?

We need to increase the Video RAM and enable the 3 D acceleration.

1) Open Parallels Desktop ( do not start the Windows Virtual Machine ) => Go to Configure.
2) Video => Enable the option " 3 D Acceleration ".
3) Increase the Video Ram to 256 MB.
4) Click Ok.

This should Work.
 
That made no difference. I've tried it with 144MB and 128, and that didnt change anything either. Are there any other setting which affect graphics cards?
