Help with game

I want to play Starcraft, but when i open it to run in fullscreen (whille running paralells in full screen) the botom application bar and the top bar for the mac show up while the rest of the screen is black with a very small area showing the actual game in the middle instead of full screen. why are the mac bars comming up and how do i run the game in true fullscreen?
