Help with quickbooks point of sale

Just wondering if any of you out there could offer any advice to my problem. I am assuming the solution would be quite simple if only I was more versed in common networking.
my issue:

I have Quickbooks POS pro v.8 multi store running on a mac mini with os 10.5. Runs great. No problems connecting to the wireless network for access to the internet and to the main printer.
I recently set up a 2nd machine with the exact same set up, except that this one is running the "client" version of the quickbooks program. What this means is that it shares information with the primary program file on the first machine through the network. the way that they talk to each other is that the "client" finds the computer name on the network and then shares info.

my problem is that the "client" cant find the primary computer to share the information needed to run the program.
This 2nd machine has no problem geting on the network and browsing the web and printing to the same printer the primary machine is using, but for some reason the two virtual machines cant see each other. ive done an ipconfig and pinged the machines from each other. the results are that both machines can find the default gateways but not the specific ip's.

help!? please?

for any that run into this same problem, here is my progress:

I first did what was suggested here, and put both VM's to bridged networking.
Secondly I made sure that both VM's were named and in the same work group.
everything works fine now as long as the firewalls exceptions are set to file sharing.

Here is my solution:
Set both VM into bridged networking, remember to set access in firewall exception.
Then the Quickbook POS will work for you, however you should check if you group both your computers into one same work group or not. Because sometimes you may forget to set different name so each computer can not see other.
Otherwise, if everything still not okay, so you should think about another solution, for example try another iOS app for POS, for example Magento POS ipad. I believe that if you try this solution, the problem of linking 2 or more computers will vanish.
