high cpu with desktop r

Just installed Desktop 9 on my imac. Noticed that the cpu fan went up to 1400 rpm and higher; never happens with my mb Pro running desktop 8, stays normal (around 2000 rpm) anyone else notice this? Is there a problem? I'm not doing anything with it, as well -- I just start the VM and it sits there; running XP professional (just use windows for work). have the standard 4 gb of memory in it. Would like any info-advice.
 
I am having a similar problem with my MB Air. Version 8 was not a problem...with 9, the fan is running all the time. Very annoying and I am already beginning to regret my purchase. :-(
