How do I do a Reinstall of XP? I don't get the option

I have the black screen of deah all of a sudden. Safe mode is not working.

So I'm trying to do a repair. I boot up from the CD but do not get an option to do a repair or to hit Enter to go to a repair screen.

It just says, "Booting from CD" for a second and then the screen goes black.

Any help as to how to get to the repair screen?

I paid for the upgrade today ($49.99 despite getting an email yesterday saying it would be valid for $39.99 for 1 more today which I thought meant until today). Perhaps I could just upgrade somehow and avoid this?

Confused

Under the Booting options I have clicked "CD/Rom, Hard Disk, Floppy" is that wha you mean?

Do I need to check any of the flags boxed below?

It says "booting from CD" but then I don't get any options. The screen goes black and I have to hit Contrl + Alt to move the mouse.
