How do I fix corrupted Windows XP

Parallels told me I had to reactivate Parallels within 3 days since my hard drive has changed since it was installed. After reactivating Parallels, XP will not boot up. I get the following message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original CD Rom

I would appreciate any help I can get to fix this issue.
Thanks

You need to boot with a windows xp cd, select repair from the first screen, select the windows directory, then run chkdsk /r
