How do I get back my old desktop files??

I just migrated a VM successfully from VMware to parallels. Everything is working great except my desktop now "syncs" with my mac desktop. Is it possible to turn off this feature?? Even if it is not, can I at least access my files from my original desktop? There are some files there that I need!

Also, I noticed that launching an app in windows will make it appear in OSX's dock. Is it possible to turn off this feature also?

Click View at the top menubar and choose Windowed or Fullscreen. What you described is Coherence mode, it is just how this feature works. To disable sharing your Windows and Mac desktop click Configure on virtual machine window -> Shared profile -> disable
