How Do I Get Back to PD3.0?

Hi Folks,

I just upgraded from PD 3.0 to 4.0 (saving a backup in the process) and have had nothing but problems with build 3810 or what ever the latest version is now. How do I get back to PD 3.0 which was running much better than 4.0?

Any help would be appreciated...

If you have a backup of your 3.0 virtual machine then simply uninstall Parallels Desktop 4.0 and then install Parallels Desktop 3.0 using this direct link to its latest build. Then launch it, click File -> Open from the menubar and choose the .pvs file of your backup.

Big Problem!!

Ok, what do I do now? Please see attached screen grabs of error messages I now get when trying to install PD3 back onto my system.

What is happening now?

in Mac OS open Terminal from Applications/Utilities
type following command

cd /System/Library/Extensions

sudo rm -rf prl_hid_hook.kext
sudo rm -rf prl_hypervisor.kext
sudo rm -rf prl_netbridge.kext
sudo rm -rf prl_usb_connect.kext
sudo rm -rf prl_vnic.kext

Note: You will be asked for your Mac OS account password after command
sudo rm -rf prl_hid_hook.kext

Thanks for your reply. I was able to get it done, but in a little different way. I'm now back to PD3 and a very Happy Camper!

Shit. I am in the same boat. I do hope that the clunky, slow, miserable PD 4.xx is fixed by this company soon. I cannot downgrade to PD 3.0 because I don't have a full backup of the virtual machine from that time. (The backup that the upgrade wanted to create was one messy affair.)

If you still have the .pvm file from Parallels Desktop 4, you can right-click on it and select "Show Package Contents". You can create a new virtual machine based on the .hdd file (virtual disk) inside the bundle. The .pvm file is usually located in Documents -> Parallels.
