How is virtual memory used?

I have a new 4 gig MacBook. If I give the virtual machine 1 gig and in OS X I run very little which means I have close to 2 gig of memory free, will parallels use that free OS X memory to cache the disk access to the parallels machine (boot camp partition)? I'm hoping I don't need to give parallels lots of memory but still have that available free memory used for caching if available.

Hello,

as I understand, you are interested in where the swap is located when using a Boot Camp based virtual machine in Parallels Desktop. It is located on the Boot Camp partition.
