How many virtual machines can I have?

Hi!
How many networked virtual machines can I have running concurrently (parallel)?
I'd like to build a test-farm of several XP workstations and Windows 2003 servers. Is there a limit in how many of them can run in Parallels?

The number of your VM is limit to host resource - RAM and power of processor.
The number of networked VM with Shared Networking mode is limit the same because of they doesn't be seen from external network.
The number of networked VM with Bridged Ethernet mode is limit configuration of your networking.

Have I got this right?

If I use shared networking in a MacPro I can have two simultaneusly running guests as the MacPro has only two network ports.

If I use bridged networking I can have as many guests as my RAM or CPU allows?
 
No... Shared networking just uses your Mac's current network connection so you can have as many VM's as your RAM + CPU allows.

Bridged networking connects directly to your router as if it is a separate physical machine so your router has to have enough free ports to support your VM's, although you would run out of CPU + RAM before you ran out of available ports on any modern router as most these days have something like 99.

So far I understand - it won't matter (technically) what kind of networking mode I chose.

So why have I these two modes then?
When would I chose bridged and when shared networking?

I'm running RH ES 4 as the host OS and three RH ES 4 quest OS at the same time. Currently, I've encountered issues with network connectivity being lost. All guest OSes are using Bridge networking with static ip. Unfortunately, my work around is to exit and restart each parallels instance after shutting the guest OSes down.

So it is possible but unsure of its stability, specifically with my configuration. Also, all my RH installations are vanilla, no extras or special configurations.
