    Hi:

I'm trying to help out a friend who has a MAC running the Parallels software. He has Windows XP installed but it unfortunately will now only boot into Safe Mode. Normal booting always "blue screens" when loading a particular driver.

Since he has some important documents that need saving, my goal is to run a non-destructive reload of XP using some obscure Windows recovery panel features. I've done this several times before on free standings PCs.

It requires booting from the CD and working at the "pre-GUI" layer. My problem is that restarting Windows with the CD in the drive does not give me the option to boot from the CD.

Is there any way to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Bill

If it will not help, please provide me with a screenshot of the blue screen.

    Best regards,

3.0 build 5608 won't boot from XP CD

I followed the configuration directions at http://kb.parallels.com/en/5138, but step 9 (Windows should ask you to press any key to boot from the CD - click inside the VM window to capture input and press any key. )
never occurs and it boots from the harddisk instead. I've checked the settings 3 times. :-(

Is there anything else I should do?

Make sure that Configuration Editor - Configuration - Options - Booting - CD-ROM is selected as first device
