how to de-parallelize a boot camp partion

Boot camp has become to unstable for me (and maybe parallels itself) with bleeding edge leopard so I would like to uninstall parallels from my boot camp partition and try vmware
instead. What needs to be done to make that happen.

On a similar vain trying to uninstall parallels by clicking on the "Uninstall Parallels Desktop" icon yeilds the following pop up:

"You do not have Parallels Desktop installed on your computer"

This is with build 4560 that was installed with an upgrade key.
