Sorry for these questions but I'm brand new to Parallels (in fact, have not used it yet).

    • Is there any document here that explains 'how to' perform the required installation of Windows before using Parallels?
Or does Parallels lead the user through that process when Parallels is first run?

    • Is there any need for Windows to be run from a separate hard drive or partition, or can it be installed on the Mac's internal hard drive?

    • Does Parallels have to be in any particular disk location relative to that of Windows -- i.e., again, same hard drive or partition -- or it doesn't matter?

    Thanks very much.

No. What in my post made you think I was referring to Boot Camp?

Thanks. Since I'm not familiar with the term "VM" (though I see it means "virtual machine"), I just want to make sure we're referring to the same thing.

All I meant to inquire about was the following (beginner's question):

    • My understanding is that running Parallels requires one to have a copy of any of several versions of Windows -- none of which are in any way part of, or included with, Parallels itself.

    • I have my WIN 2000 installation CD ready to be installed on my Mac.

    • What do I do next?

Is the part of the user guide you referred to what I'm looking for, including explanation of how/where Windows has to be installed to communicate with Parallels?

    Thanks again.

Yes, you need to insert Windows installation CD in CD-DVD and follow steps in guide using one of the methods
