how to use a copyright protected DVD with Parallels for Mac OS/X

Hello,

I bought myself a programme yesterday but it seems I do not get passed the copyright protection (even though it is a legally acquired programme). After searching I found that Parallels acknowledges this problem (http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/faq/4/#4-7). Does anybody have any suggestions how to get around it? I tried using Daemon Tools, but no luck there :( .

I'm having the same problem. I can't play SIMS 2 in emulation at all. When I have the CD inserted, the game says to insert the CD. Apparently something is lost in emulation with Parallels. Even worse, if I try to image it and load it through Alcohol 120 or Daemon Tools, neither works.. I don't care which method gets fixed, but it would be nice to be able to actually use CD's properly.
 
anything that requires RAW access to the CD/DVD drive will not work under parallels.. that includes games that use safedisk and securerom. also.. as Parallels doesnt support DirectX, you wont get much success with SIMS2 anyway
