Hypervisor?

Can anyone tell me what a "hypervisor" is? If I know what it is, maybe I can communicate with it.
I think that others here have mentioned that you may get that message if you don't reboot after loading Parallels. Although there is no message to do so, apparently Parallels loads kernel extensions, and requires a reboot after installing.
Try a reboot, and see if that gets rid of your hypervisor error message.

I don't think that would get you the hypervisor message, although I could be wrong.
I do remember reading that you had to have a "regular" XP version rather than a restore version. Usually the restore versions are specific to the hardware that they originally came with (such as Dell, HP, etc.).
In the off chance your comment wasn't totally tongue in cheek, a hypervisor (modified from "supervisor") is a software layer that facilitates the running of multiple OSes so that each OS thinks it's seeing the expected set of hardware natively and to itself.seeray said:Can anyone tell me what a "hypervisor" is? What build version of Parallels are you using?
The boxed version of Parallels will not work on the Mac Pro. You need to download the latest update from here.seeray said:kosh -
Nope, not tongue in cheek at all. I just bought the Parallels package at CompUSA, and the CD shows a 2006 date. I'll check the build version as soon as I get home, since I use a Win XP pc at work.
