If I buy now, how long do I get updates?

I installed the Parallels Desktop demo yesterday and it seems to be working pretty well. I'm a 3D simulation developer, so most of what I need to run under Windows won't run very well at present with Parallels, but I understand that accelerated 3D graphics will be supported in the near future.

My question is this: If I buy Parallels Desktop now, will I get free updates up to and including when the accelerated graphics are released? Or will it be an "additional charge" for that later (as so many other companies do)?

That leads me to 2 more questions:

1. What version is Parallels Desktop at right now (didn't find it anywhere on the website, just references to "build numbers")?

2. I went to the order page and there's an additiional $6.99 for an "extended download service". Don't tell me they charge another $7 for the "pleasure" of downloading the software?

Desktop is either at 1.2, or 2.2, or no version at all. Depends what you read.

If you search the forums, you will find stuff about the download service. I can't remember what was said about, but I know you can download from Parallels site no problems without it.

1. Parallels Desktop doesn't have a version number in that sense. But, the current version is effectively 2.2. The next major release, which is claimed to include 3D support, will be 3.0 and will be a paid upgrade. It's not due 'till first quarter of next year.

2. The download service is optional. You can remove it from your cart. You don't need it to download the program.
