I am trying to find out if you create a VM using Desktop for MAC is that image usable on Workstation. Are there any challenges in doing so.

The following was a posted thread that was asked several months ago with no response. I am hopeful this time someone could respond.

Thanks,

Image compatibility
I've created an image on Parallels Desktop for Mac to run Windows XP.
Could I use the same image on Parallels Workstation for Windows?

Windows Activation when using images on Mac and PC

Hi

Apart from the parallels tools there is another problem. When we use an images that we created on Parallels for Macon a Parallels Workstation then Windows wants to be re-activated. Apparently the virtualized hardware is different on Workstation. is that so?? is there something we can do about that?
We need to use images that run on both mac and a PC.

many greetings

Walter

Hello Walter,

The virtualized hardware of Parallels Desktop is really different from the one of Workstation.
I am afraid there is nothing to do about that at the moment. However Parallels developers are working to change this situation.

Best regards,
Xenos
